The University of Wisconsin-Stout (UW-Stout), Wisconsin's Polytechnic University, is seeking applications for a Marketing Specialist. This position will develop and implement strategic marketing plans to promote programs and events for the Educational Pathways and Outreach (EPO), Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute (SVRI), and Office of Corporate Relations and Economic Engagement (OCREE) Units. The position will be housed within the EPO Unit, which also includes Continuing Education and Conferences, Educational Pathways (high school dual enrollment), and Youth Programs/Camps. Key responsibilities include creating strategic marketing plans, disseminating marketing materials, and collecting/analyzing market data and trends. 


As a direct report to the Associate Director of Educational Pathways Operations, this position utilizes strong communication skills and confirm university branding guidelines to enhance visibility and engagement with prospective participants to drive program growth. This is a full-time, annual position, FLSA exempt from overtime, renewable annually.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required 

  • Bachelor's Degree by employment start date
  • Experience in planning and promoting events, workshops, or seminars
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and basic data reporting tools
  • Basic experience in data analysis and market research 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders 

Highly Desired/Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement social media campaigns that drive engagement and growth
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills and the ability to generate innovative marketing ideas
  • Proficiency in data analysis and market research 
  • Proficiency in SEO, SEM, and content marketing principles 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties promote the office's programs and enhance the visibility and accessibility of educational pathways and outreach opportunities.

Strategic Marketing Plans: Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies for the EPO, SVRI, and OCREE Units.

  • Develops marketing and communications plan for events, courses, and other offerings of the Unit.
  • Works collaboratively and serves as a liaison between the Units and Marketing and Communications (MarCom) office to ensure strategies meet University branding guidelines.
     

Marketing Material Creating and Dissemination: Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques.

  • Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various mediums.
  • Works Units to implement marketing strategies for events and courses.
  • Fulfills handout material requests for presenters and makes them available to participants.
  • Maintains departmental webpages.
  • Monitors social media accounts for the Unit.
  • Works collaboratively with MarCom to develop templates for brochures, programs, and signage.

Data Analysis and Collection: Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities.

  • Conducts needs assessment activities and environmental scanning within the interest areas identified by the Units.
  • Monitor and report on marketing campaign effectiveness.
  • Develops, generates and disseminates program evaluations to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Utilizes technology to develop insights and recommendations.
  • Evaluate and recommend venues for offsite program offerings.

Miscellaneous Duties: Other duties as assigned, which can include various marketing and administrative tasks that support the overall objectives of the Units.

UW-Stout's Educational Pathways and Outreach department is comprised of three areas: Continuing Education and Conferences, Educational Pathways, Stout Online, overseen by an executive director.

Continuing Education and Conferences supports the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Stout by providing adult learners with access to university education and resources for the enrichment of their lives, both personally and professionally. Their programs and services include certificate programs and noncredit courses, many offering optional college credit; conferences and workshops covering a variety of topical areas; customized business training and educational programs; and program and event planning services.

Continuing Education is committed to meeting the outreach and lifelong educational needs of learners. Through the development and delivery of courses and programs on campus, online and at designated off-campus locations, they connect the resources of the university with individual needs. Coursework can be applied toward professional development, certificates, certifications, degree completion and graduate degrees.

Stout Online's Customized Instruction (CI) degree programs, certificates, and certifications are designed to bring courses to life in an online format using the innovative Canvas learning system. These customized instruction opportunities are provided at undergraduate or graduate level, bachelor to doctorate, and may be completed online, hybrid, or through other arrangements convenient to each student's specific lifestyle. Stout Online helps students to finish a degree, make a career change, or update professional skills for career advancement.

Educational Pathways is designed to build pathways for youth into programs at UW-Stout. Youth programming includes year-round youth camp offerings, high school dual enrollment, and other engagement offerings to engage youth and reinforce confidence in career exploration and higher education.
