APPOINTMENT PERCENTAGE (FTE): 0.5 - Half-time

University of Wisconsin-Stout's Financial Aid Office is looking for an individual to join our team! This on-site .5 FTE position has the primary responsibility of managing University Foundation Scholarship awards. This will entail setting up and maintaining the awarding software, sending out award notifications to students, coordinating with the Foundation on scholarship changes or unspent funds, and transfer of data between Financial Aid and the Foundation. Account reconciliation for these awards and assist Financial Aid in customer service inquiries (in-person, via phone, events).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required 
o 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
o Experience working with sensitive, personal and confidential information.
o Proficient experience working with excel. 
o Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work.
o Attention to detail, proofreading and editing skills. 
o Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness.
o Work independently and as part of a team environment.

Highly Desired/Preferred 
o Associate's Degree (Accounting or related degree preferred)
o Experience with reconciliation
o Advanced Excel knowledge   
o Familiarity with Financial Aid programs

RESPONSIBILITIES 
Assisting in the construction and upkeep of scholarship software, along with communicating with students concerning award notifications and eligibility criteria, constitute primary responsibilities. Collaborating with the Foundation on various tasks including data transfer, sending invitations for awards ceremonies, updating scholarships, and managing unallocated funds is integral to the role. Ensuring the precision of scholarship accounts through reconciliation is paramount. Given the importance of this duty, proficiency in basic accounting principles and daily utilization of Excel/ similar data management software are essential components of the position.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION 
The Financial Aid and Student Employment Office consists of 8 full-time staff members, an assistant director and a director. The office processes financial information that contributes to award information as well as advises students and their support systems on alternative fund options for their cost of attendance. On-campus student employment is supported out of this office.
