Corporate and Foundation Relations Gift Officer

The Stout University Foundation, Inc. at the University of Wisconsin-Stout is accepting applications for a full-time Corporate and Foundation Relations Gift Officer. The Corporate and Foundation Relations Gift Officer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from corporate partners, foundations and individuals in support of colleges, departments, and programs of University of Wisconsin-Stout.  The position complements the development efforts of the Chancellor and Deans and works closely with university faculty and staff, as well as the Board of Directors and staff of the Stout University Foundation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum/Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in professional or higher education fund raising, public relations, corporate sales or marketing and a passion to champion the mission of UW-Stout, a polytechnic, higher education university.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on activities with minimal direction.
 
Desired
  • Minimum of five-years professional development experience or evidence of expertise in fundraising or corporate engagement in higher education, with demonstrated ability to promote and successfully solicit major gifts by identifying and managing a portfolio of prospects. Designing and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies and ensuring follow-up activities and stewardship.
  • Demonstrate experience with comprehensive fundraising strategies, corporate and foundation fundraising.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a broad range of colleagues and constituents.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of assigned college(s), programs, corporations, foundations, and individuals in support of the mission of UW-Stout and fundraising priorities. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Deans, Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty and volunteers to develop strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate, foundation and individual donors.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of prospects with annual goals for face-to-face visits and dollars raised. Manage portfolio of prospects and donors to ensure timely steps are taken toward solicitation, gift closure, and stewardship.
  • Conceive, write and edit fundraising proposals and gift agreements.
  • Support the donor database management system by maintaining development actions and opportunities in the individual’s record.
  • Plan and conduct trips in key geographic areas to qualify and cultivate donors, and work with alumni and development staff, as well as UW-Stout’s Corporate Relations and Economic Engagement office, Career Services, college deans and faculty as appropriate to maximize fundraising results.
  • Represent Foundation, university and assigned areas at appropriate college and university meetings and events.
  • Provide leadership and support to volunteer boards and committees to fulfill fundraising objectives.

The UW-Stout Office of University Advancement is comprised of the Stout University Foundation and the Stout Alumni Association. The person filling this position will be joining a dynamic team that is responsible for the acquisition and stewardship of philanthropic resources for UW-Stout.
