Position: Part-Time Shelter Attendant
Hours: Part time, 30 hours per week
Schedule: Saturday through Tuesday, 3pm – 10 pm
Salary: $17.50 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience

Summary
Attends to the operations of the Cairn House Shelter at Stepping Stones of Dunn County. Provides reliable and stable support for residents and facility, including following and enforcing shelter policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
Shelter Operations
- Ensure that operational needs of the shelter facility and individual needs of the shelter guests are met
- Follow policies and procedures of shelter program
- Welcome and support volunteers including coordination, supervision and guiding best practices for providing meals and other support to shelter
- Contribute to the shelter team, including effective communication and support during shift hand-offs
- Complete duties as assigned by Shelter Supervisor or Manager
- Receive requests for additional shift coverage—whether able to take-on shifts or not
- Cleaning and inventory management
- Growth opportunities for advancement into case management
Overall Agency Tasks
- Be an ambassador for the organization, including possible assistance with and attending organizational fundraisers and events
- Help with other Stepping Stones’ programs and agency tasks as needed.
- Lead by example to set standards of collegiality and service, including interactions with other staff, volunteers, clients and community members
- Experience demonstrating ethical reliability and responsibility for people and/or facilities
- Ability to work with diverse populations and people in crisis, and to maintain strict confidentiality
- Commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values Statement of Stepping Stones
- Preferred experience working, interning, or volunteering in human services

- Assertive and able to enforce shelter policies and procedures
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Capable in Microsoft Office computer programs
Preferred
- Knowledgeable about community programs and resources
Accountability
- Reports directly to the Shelter Manager and takes direction from Supervisors
- Works with residents, area agencies, and other community programs in striving to reach the Stepping Stones Shelter program goals
- Partnership with Stepping Stones’ staff, volunteers, and the Board of Directors in fulfilling the organization’s mission
