Assistant Professor in Dietetics

Job Duties:

The Department of Kinesiology, Health, Food and Nutritional Sciences (KHFNS) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Dietetics.  This is a 9-month tenure track position commencing in August, 2026.  We are seeking a team member who has interest in advancing student learning in the area of nutrition and dietetics and in alignment with UW-Stout’s polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, and career focused education. 

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Advance student learning in Dietetics in alignment with UW-Stout’s polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, and career-focused education. 

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Courses may include, but are not limited to: clinical nutrition, general nutrition, nutrition and metabolism, and nutritional assessment. 

  • Provide student academic advisement and conduct assessment of student learning. This includes contributing to academic program assessment and continuous improvement processes, in collaboration with faculty and staff. 

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and revise curriculum to align with program and university goals. 

  • Engage in scholarly activities such as mentoring students in the research process, grantsmanship, and dissemination. 

  • Work with dietetics faculty to maintain program accreditation and ensure compliance with ACEND standards. 

  • Schedule, maintain office hours and/or online availability for students, in alignment with department expectations. 

  • Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community  

  • Work with the Disability Services office (http://www.uwstout.edu/disability) to foster an inclusive learning environment when students disclose the need for learning accommodations. 

  • Perform other duties as designated by the Department Chair. 

 

 

 

Department:

The University of Wisconsin-Stout’s KHFNS Department is responsible for administering the ACEND accredited B.S degree in Dietetics; B.S degree in Food Science and Technology; and B.S degree in Health, Wellness, and Fitness; master’s (M.S.) degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (online); master’s (M.S) degree in Food Science and Technology; and an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship program with 9 and 15 month options. Beginning fall 2028, the department will be housed in a newly-renovated building with state-of-the art classrooms and laboratories, including nutritional assessment and body composition analysis labs, teaching kitchen, commercial kitchen, and various food science laboratories.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree in human nutrition or related field from an accredited degree-granting institution and registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) status by start date 

  • Demonstrated teaching experience related to nutrition and dietetics 

  • Commitment to fostering an applied, hands-on learning environment 

  • Willingness to lead an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program 

  • Commitment to student success and cultivating an inclusive, student-first campus 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in clinical/medical nutrition therapy practice, post-credentialing 

  • Experience with program and curriculum development, assessment, and revision 

  • Ability to develop and maintain a research agenda that actively engages students 

  • Demonstrated potential and interest in creating multi-disciplinary collaborations with diverse stakeholders 

  • Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition of Dietetics
