The University of Wisconsin-Stout Concert Band and Jazz Band will present their annual Winter Holiday Band Concert and the Menomonie Community Choir will join the Stout Concert Band for a festive "Town and Gown" holiday music finale.
The 88-member Concert Band, directed by Stephanie B. Graber, of UW-Stout's music department, will perform "Proud Heritage March," by William Latham; "Songs of Earth, Water, Fire and Sky," a Native American Indian Piece by Robert W. Smith; "Deep River," by James Swearingen; and "Celtic Carol," arranged by R.W. Smith.
The 50-voice Menomonie Community Choir will join the Concert Band in presenting "Silent Night," arranged by Larry Clark; the Mel Torme Christmas Song "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire," arranged by John Higgens; and a Holiday Medley of "White Christmas," "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," :Let It Snow," and "Winter Wonderland," arranged by Moss and Murtha.
The 17-member Jazz Band, directed by jazz interns Adam Braatz and Paul Stodolka, will perform the Big Band Era classic "String of Pearls," arranged by John Berry; the Benny Goodman classic "Stompin' at the Savoy," arranged by Michael Sweeney; and "Fat Cat," by Doug Beach.
