Get in on the fun July 4 with the Speedy Eity Run/Walk. This event honors the late Dave Eitrheim, M.D., a former family medicine physician at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie. The run/walk is hosted by Dr. Eitrheim’s family and friends, and is co-supported by Mayo Clinic Health System. Funds raised will benefit projects supported by the Community Foundation. The event includes 1-, 4- and 7-mile run/walks. The 4- and 7-mile courses will follow the trail that goes over the Red Cedar River below the I-94 bridge. Race entrants get a race shirt and a free meal after the race. Events are not chip-timed. A free Kids Fun Run, geared toward youth ages 10 and younger, will be held after the races. Wakanda Waterpark restrooms and showers will be available. Participants can register for more than one event. The 7 and 4-mile registration begins at 7:30 a.m.; subsequent races follow. Fun, family-friendly activities, including Kubb, a live DJ and a food booth, will be available for all participants. Volunteers are needed to help make this race a success. Community members who want to get in on the action but aren’t runners should consider volunteering. Email Amy Eitrheim at eitrheim@charter.net with interest.
