Join us for an overnight trip to Crex Meadows Wildlife area, one of Wisconsin's premier, wildlife viewing sites. At 30,000 acres Crex is the largest state-owned wildlife area in Wisconsin. This intensively managed property is home to 270 species of birds and 600 species of plants. The rare sedge marsh and brush prairie habitats make the area a utopia for wildlife which, in turn, makes Crex a paradise for bird watchers, naturalists, and all other hearty explorers who are interested in connecting with nature. We'll leave Friday afternoon from the Reserve via carpool or van with a quick bite to eat before arriving at the Crex Interpretive Center. DNR interpretive wildlife manager Jim Hoefler will guide our trip and give a us an introductory program Friday evening. Be sure to pack your sleeping bag and overnight bag since we have reservations to stay in their rustic bunkhouse. If you prefer modern accommodations, a motel is nearby for an additional fee. Saturday morning we?ll rise before dawn to view the visiting bird populations. We'll break for a quick bite to eat and head home that later that morning with a stop to view more bird species after breakfast. Space is limited so reserve your space now.
