Red Cedar Medical Center Mayo Health System invites area residents to an evening event, "Mom Dad, Can We Talk?" on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Off Broadway Banquet Center, 1501 N. Broadway, Menomonie. The event runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There are over 50 million adult children in America for whom aging parent issues and care are an increasing reality and challenge. Adult children care about their aging parents and they desire to ?do the right thing,? but they need support and guidance in these uncharted waters. Presenter Dick Edwards is a nationally recognized leader in aging services, retirement housing and long-term health care. He recently retired from a 20-year career at Mayo Clinic, where he was an elder care specialist and worked with hundreds of aging persons, their adult children and families. Edwards will encourage attendees to anticipate, communicate and start the caring conversations that are the foundation for optimal travel through this stage of life. His presentation will be humorous, poignant, informative and encouraging. Event includes presentation and dessert. Edwards' book "Mom' Dad, Can We Talk?" Insight and Perspectives to Help Us Do What's Best for Our Parent? will be available for purchase; a book signing will follow the presentation.
