Specialists in American popular song, Juliana Schmidt and Timothy Lutz present their newest musical production at the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $14.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors & students, and $6.00 for children.
An Old Sweet Song is celebrating its 20th anniversary! An Old Sweet Song began in 1989 when the Tainter was celebrating its 100th Anniversary. Tim and Juliana dressed in Victorian costume and did a few songs found in Mabel Tainter’s own music collection as part of the festivities. From that performance sprang popular music and theater programs (in authentic costumes) with original scripts written by Juliana, spanning 5 eras - Victorian, Vaudeville, 1920’s, 1930’s, and World War II. Also, An Old Sweet Song has been called upon regularly to perform on the Mabel Tainter stage for touring guests.
The newest Old Sweet Song production “Silly & Sentimental” features Juliana and Tim singing your favorites from the past including Who Threw the Overalls in Mistress Murphy’s Chowder?, Where did you get that Hat?, Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning, Embraceable You, This Time the Dream’s On Me, and Over the Rainbow.
