Harry Boyte is a civic engagement teacher, scholar, and organizer. He has focused on higher education?s opportunity and obligation to train productive citizens and to connect with the community towards civic renewal. In the 1960s, Boyte worked for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a field secretary with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in the southern civil rights movement. Recently he has organized a design team representing six Twin Cities higher education institutions to host citizen discussions addressing the question, ?How can communities and higher education work together to address the rapidly changing nature of work and the workplace??
