Dustyn will be reading from his book, "How Newell Burch Survived Andersonville Prison". This is the amazing story of a man who was among the first to arrive and last to leave Andersonville. Burch came to Menomonie after his war days with his family to work for the Knapp, Stout and Co. Newell Burch didn't just survive Andersonville Prison. He actually made a difference in the lives of his fellow soldiers imprisoned with him. He believed he "cured" his own gangrene. At every turn, he exercised concern for his fellowman in a bleak situation. Find out how he accomplished all this is an unimaginable environment of filth and lack of provision.
