The West Wisconsin Dressage Association presents “Dressage and Desserts” on Sept. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Silvermine Farm, 410 Pavelski Road, Eau Claire. The organization is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
The event will have over eight members performing musical freestyles on their horses. Dressage is the equine event that combines the precision and athleticism of gymnastics with the grace and reserve of ballet. It has been around for hundreds of years and became an Olympic sport in 1912. Dressage freestyles combine the dressage moves with music. Movements and figures are choreographed. Music is chosen to enhance the horse and freestyle.
Cost is $10 for those 12 and older, $7 for children 5 to 11, younger children are free. The cost includes anniversary cake, cookies, other desserts, coffee and cider.
West Wisconsin Dressage Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the continuing education of dressage riders.
