Chippewa Valley Youth Sympathy Auditions
The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony will be holding auditions for its 2009-2010 concert season for any interested students entering grades 7-12 next fall. All current CVYS musicians are required to re-audition. Auditions will be on Saturday, April 25th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be held at UW-Eau Claire in Haas Fine Arts Center. To register for auditions, please visit the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony website at www.cvyouthsymphony.org and click on Forms on the left side of the screen and fill out the registration form. All interested students will receive a confirmation email with their audition time a few weeks prior to the audition date.
Students are asked to prepare an unaccompanied solo no longer than three minutes and one scale of the student’s choice in up to three octaves. The solo should demonstrate the musician’s musical and technical abilities and should be selected from something the student is currently working on. The Music Director will be selecting musicians to create a full and balanced orchestra based on ability and need.
The Youth Symphony is a full string and wind orchestra comprised of young musicians in 7th-12th grade that demonstrate an ability to perform at an advanced level. Students will enjoy the enrichment and challenge of performing with other serious and dedicated musicians. All students are required to participate in their school band or orchestra program when these programs are offered.
The orchestra meets on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. in the instrumental music room at Haas Fine Arts Center, UW-Eau Claire. The cost for participation is $85 per semester. Financial assistance is available for those that request it.
