SUMMARY:UW-Stout Presents ''Dr. King's Dream''
DESCRIPTION:The performance will be presented by Mixed Blood Theatre Company of Minneapolis\, a professional\, multi-racial theater promoting cultural pluralism and individual equality. The theater company's depiction of "Dr. King's Dream" stars Warren C. Bowles as Martin Luther King Jr. in a solo performance. Bowles has been a member of Mixed Blood's company since 1977. In 1984\, he became the first African American to play the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac. The play "Dr. King's Dream" begins at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis on April 4\, 1968\, as King answers a young colleague's question with an anecdote from the Montgomery bus boycott. The play shifts to Montgomery and\, during the next 45 minutes\, brings to life the remarkable American leader. The event is co-sponsored by UW-Stout Multicultural Student Services and the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts in honor of Martin Luther King's birthday.
