SUMMARY:TAKE BACK THE NIGHT: BREAK THE SILENCE AND THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT
DESCRIPTION:April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month\; yearly sexual assaults on UW campuses may be more than 3300. More than 100 sexual assaults were reported between 2006-2008 at the three UW campuses in western Wisconsin. Students from Dr. Wolfgrams Abuse and the Family class\, in collaboration with UW-Stout Campus Violence Prevention Program\, and The Bridge to Hope\, will be sponsoring an International Event to increase awareness of sexual assault and breaking the silence. There will be a variety of speakers\, a musical performance\, a candle light-vigil\, and available resources.\n\nFor more information on the understanding of Take Back the Night please visit the website http://www.takebackthenight.org\n\n\n\nThe Clothesline Project is a program started in Cape Cod\, MA\, in 1990 to address the issue of violence against women. The goal of this project is to allow women survivors of sexual assault the opportunity to have a voice by decorating a shirt that will then be hung in their community.
