SUMMARY:Exploring WI State Parks - Interstate
DESCRIPTION:Wisconsin is home to over 70 state parks and forests. We often overlook the beauty in our own backyards when looking for a new adventure. Beaver Creek is offering explorations of these areas in our state. This time we are going to Interstate State Park\, Wisconsin's oldest state park. In the morning we will be joined by a park naturalist who will walk with and tell us about the fascinating glacial formations in the park. We will enjoy spectacular views of the Saint Croix National River way and be on the lookout for spring wildflowers and migrant birds. After lunch there are several options: we may hop over to the Minnesota side of Interstate State Park\, possibly visit the new headquarters and interpretive center for the St. Croix National Scenic River or visit the local fish hatchery. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear\; bring a sack lunch and binoculars. This program is recommended for adults or middle-school age students and above. Trails are not long -- under a mile in most instances -- but trails can be steep and have uneven terrain. Transportation and entrance fees will be included.\n\nFull payment required at registration deadline May 4. Group will meet in the Citizen Science Center parking lot.
