SUMMARY:Crop Walk
DESCRIPTION:2010 Crop Walk\n\n\n\n\n\n"The CROP Walk\, Rock & Roll will be Sunday\, October 10\," announced Julie McNaughton\, Coordinator. Our Menomonie Area Bread for the World is sponsoring this event for the 27thyear. It is one of 2000 planned CROP Walks to raise money to help hungry people taking place across the country this year. \n\n \n\nA CROP Rally will be held Thursday\, September 9\, 6:30 8:00 p.m.\, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church\, 910 9thSt.\, Menomonie. Recruiters for churches and groups will receive CROP Walk\, Rock & Roll publicity and donation envelopes.\n\n \n\nOur CROP Walk\, Rock & Roll will begin and end at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The walk will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a Hunger Parade - a mile route to celebrate that together we are stopping hunger. Then\, those participants who are able will continue walking to complete a 6-mile walk "walking because they walk." Other options are rocking for 1 hour or bicycling a 10-mile route. \n\n \n\nOur Planning Team has set a goal of recruiting 300 walkers and raising $14\,000 to help stop hunger here in our community and around the world\, through self-help development projects. One fourth of the funds raised will go to the Stepping Stones (formerly Interfaith) Food Pantry of Dunn County. \n\n \n\nCROP stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. CROP Walks are interfaith\, community events organized by Church World Service\, the relief\, development\, and refugee assistance arm of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. \n\n \n\nFor more information about the CROP Walk\, Rock & Roll\, contact Julie McNaughton at 235-9377 or mcnaughtond@uwstout.edu.
