SUMMARY:Bulb Recycling For Businesses
DESCRIPTION:Local Businesses Help Protect Our Environment - On October 3\, 2006\, Dunn County businesses had the opportunity to recycle their fluorescent or incandescent bulbs at a reduced rate. In an effort to keep hazardous waste such as lead and mercury out of the environment\, the Dunn County Solid Waste Division made the program especially efficient. Participants could either register for an on site pick up or for a drop off appointment at Dunn County Transfer Station. \n\nEleven local businesses opted to partake in this program and over 5\,276 bulbs and 653 ballast were collected. Considering that just one four foot bulb contains enough mercury to contaminate over 7\,000 gallons of drinking water\, Dunn County business truly helped make a difference.\n\nThis event is semiannual. While bulbs are accepted year round at the Dunn County Transfer and Area Collection Stations\, it is at a higher cost than for the business related collections.
