West Central Wisconsin Microenterprise Grant

West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (WCWRPC) is administering a $510,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Coronavirus (CV) award from the Wisconsin Department of Administration to establish a Microenterprise Grant Program for west central Wisconsin.  The Program will provide up to $5,000 in grant funding to eligible small businesses located in Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire (excluding the City of Eau Claire), Polk, and St. Croix counties to cover working capital needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.


Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis during the Application Acceptance Period of June 1 – June 15, 2021. Any business in the seven-county region (Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire (excluding the City of Eau Claire), Polk, and St. Croix) meeting the below requirements will be eligible to apply. To qualify for a $5,000 grant, a business must be:

Small; defined as five or fewer employees including the owner(s).  All employees, regardless of full-time or part-time status, are included in the employee count.

  • Located in West Central Wisconsin (counties listed above)
  • Established prior to February 5, 2020
  • Current on income and property taxes
  • Owned by a person(s) of qualifying income

Governmental units or businesses primarily engaged with crop production, animal production or aquaculture, lessors of real estate, and nonprofit organizations are not eligible for this grant opportunity.


Grant funds must be used to cover working capital needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.  Examples include:

  • Operating expenses such as payroll, rent, mortgage, insurance, utilities, inventory, professional fees
  • COVID-19 related expenses such as protective equipment.

The applicant will be required to provide documentation equal to or more than $5,000 to show how grant funds have been spent to assist with working capital needs related to the pandemic.


Applications will only be accepted during the Application Acceptance Period of June 1 – June 15, 2021.  Eligible, interested businesses should visit our website to download the program details, eligibility criteria, and application.

Leadership Menomonie

Leadership Menomonie will commence in September with an overnight retreat.  This nine month program includes area activities and facility tours to create an awareness of the businesses and industries that shape our community. Participates will experience team building, leadership advancements and networking activities that impacts personal and professional growth.  Groups will complete a community service project which is presented during graduation.  Promote your business and engage your team in Leadership Menomonie.  Leadership Menomonie is held once a month from 8:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
